There are like...no new Rangers on the roads around where I live...probably because they really aren’t THAT much smaller than an F150 anymore, and their price point isn’t that much lower either...

EDIT - WAIT....WTF...the base Ranger here in Canada starts at $32k and the base F150 starts at $30K....why the hell would anybody buy the smaller truck for more money? 0_o What are you doing Ford???

It seems like an odd value proposition. I mean, some people just want a smaller vehicle because its more maneuverable , easier to park, takes up less space in the driveway, regardless of price. But, the Ranger isn’t enough of a reduction in size from an F-150 for any major improvement there for that to really matter,

Maybe so, but the Ranger is supposed to be their ‘small truck’ so it’s still a bit ridiculous that it costs more, at least to me...

That’s why I like small cars...though I do like cheaper ones, but I prefer small cars because I j ust like their small, nimble nature.

Way back when, Nash’s innovation was to make the Rambler a premium small car. Load it up with features and a nicely trimmed interior, sell it only as a la ndau let convertible, and charge a premium price for it. They convinced people to buy a small car, not because it was cheap, but because it was easy to drive and handle. Solved the profit margin problem that American automakers had had with small cars for years and worked very well. I don’t know what nobody’s really trying that now, there have to still be people out there that want a nice car that’s also small. I don’t think its totally coincidental that MINI has been less popular with each redesign and size increase, their cars keep getting bigger, but keep selling less as they grow. But, instead, they’re doubling down on bigger crossovers and pulling back from small cars even more.

I was just looking up Rangers for sale near me. Not only can I not find any new supercabs for sale, but used supercrews are being listed for over $3 5k. If I'm not paying Tacoma money for a Tacoma, I'm sure as shit not paying Tacoma money for a Ranger.

The upcoming new FIAT 500 which will be electric-only looks very nice for a small car...but we w on’t be getting it here, and sadly, if we did, being an EV, the price would likely be astronomical :(

Right. Used 2019 Ranger 4x4 crew cabs here in the Midwest were all over $30k, and even used (2017+) Colorados were within $1000  of similar year/mileage/equipment Tacomas. I ended up with a nice year-old Frontier for about $20k and couldn’t be happier!
